Frequently Asked Questions CEO and founder, Layla, addresses the key issues and provides answers to some frequently asked questions. 1. Where did the idea for OnePure originate? I was living in Morocco and noticed people paying a lot attention to the food that they ate, what they ingested, but not to what they wore on their skin. Having worked in the cosmetics industry for ten years I used my contacts and skills to develop a pure Halal product portfolio to give fellow Muslim women the option to respect their religious beliefs without having to sacrifice the luxury of great looking skin. 2. What does halal-certified mean? The Islamic authority (Imam) inspects the production facilities and factories to make sure there are no products or alcohol (including fluids used to clean the equipment) used in the manufacturing process. Testing is done on the products and ingredients to make sure there are no pork or animal bi-products. And then the certificate is issued if you are meeting all requirements, and deemed Halal. 3. Do other brands contain haram ingredients? Many cosmetics currently contain ingredients of haram origin. The rendering industry processes slaughterhouse waste into many products used in making cosmetics and other goods. For example, tallow and its derivatives, which include oleic acid, stearic acid and glycerin, are common ingredients in skin care. In addition, a number of products include substances such as collagen, keratin, and gelatin, all of which are of animal origin. Although less common, some skin care ingredients are derived from brains, spinal cords, internal organs, and other tissues. | 4. What does the current product line consist of? OnePure is debuting with a travel pack that consists of a cleanser that is specially created for the Gulf consumer, made to gently remove make-up from the face and eyes and to be especially skin-softening; a toner, to rebalance pH levels; an eye cream, that is designed to alleviate dark circles, which is different from the western products that target fine-lines of customers with different needs; A moisturiser, targeted for the GCC consumer, that provides moisture without oiliness, and has a special formulation that keeps working even in humidity. The travel pack costs US$125 for approximately two months supply. 5. What feedback have you received from existing clients? We have received a vast amount of complimentary feedback from our customers that are delighted with the range, including a personal recommendation from Attyaf Al Rubai, the stylish TV hostess on Abu Dhabi TV, who told us that after years of using every luxury product on the market, not only is OnePure the best product that she’s used but it looks great, and she doesn’t have to worry about what’s in it. 6. What is OnePure’s long-term expansion plan? Initially we are being sold onboard Saudi Airlines, and we are now stocked in Souk Al Bahar in Dubai. We are currently securing other retail options throughout the region, and we are in talks with leading hotel brands with a view to providing our Halal products to their guests. In the future, we aim to open free-standing stores and spas that makes our OnePure product portfolio more accessible to our discerning clientele. In terms of brand extensions, we are currently developing a body and hair care range to complement the OnePure Skin Care Collection.
